Remote work won't kill your office
We can officially declare the 9-to-5, five-days-a-week, in-office way of working dead. But offices themselves aren't dead. And neither are cities.
The big picture: Since the onset of pandemic-induced telework, companies have oscillated between can't-wait-to-go-back and work-from-home-forever. Now, it's becoming increasingly clear that the future of work will land somewhere in the middle — a remote/in-person hybrid.

The entertainment technology company FunCorp's CIO Denis Litvinov took a deep dive into how the pandemic affected remote work. Many of those who were working from home (WFH), noted the report, were incredulous that the COVID-19 crisis and the resulting telecommuting was still a thing, seven months later.

Is it wrong to charge more for very similar project with same client?

Hi all, I'm relatively new to freelance so looking for some advice here. I do iOS and Android development, and I recently completed a contract with a client for the iOS development of their app. Turns out I poorly assessed the amount of work required to build out their iOS app, but the deal was done so I completed the iOS app to the best of my ability.
The client has now contacted me to develop their Android application as well. Would it be wrong to raise the price of the contract due to me now being aware of all of the work involved, despite the fact that the two are technically very similar?

I might not get paid for 20 hours of design work

I had a lengthy interview yesterday. The client basically told me that he wants me to do the design that might worth 20 hours of design work. If he doesn’t like it after looking at it, he is not gonna pay for it.
I told him that if he doesn’t want to pay me by hour, he can set up several milestones. But he insisted that he doesn’t want to interrupt a designer’s “creative workflow”.
Is it a violation of upwork’s rule? Can I report this client?

How are you doing mentally with full time remote work?

I loved it the first few months. The lack of interruptions, useless chit chat, avoiding the commute. But recently, it's just gotten old and stale. Maybe it's because we also take COVID seriously and only venture outside the house for groceries and necessities a couple times a week. I think I enjoy remote work but would prefer an option to go into the office a couple days a week just to break up the monotony.
Otherwise, we go on a lot of walks around the neighborhood to get fresh air. It's all become very tedious. I can understand why people are saying F it all and wanting to resume their normal life and take their chances if they are not in a high risk group. I don't see how this is going to last another 6 to 12 months without people losing their minds.
